Why it spread
This leaderboard post from @arena spread because it landed on a hot topic during launch timing, reaching 174,796 views and 259 likes, which is 12.9x the account's typical likes of 20.
What worked
- The post is branded and shows a source line, giving the leaderboard credibility while the medium design polish and medium self labelling keep the focus on the ranks.
- The framing leads with a clear milestone, top 10 for Arena Expert and top 15 for Text Arena, then highlights a specific strength in Math at number 3.
- The list of highlights is easy to scan, covering Expert, Text Arena, Math, and top 20 placements across Writing, Literature and Language, Life, Physical, and Social Science, Entertainment, Sports, and Media, and Medicine.
What to borrow
We could reuse this leaderboard form by pairing a clear rank milestone with one standout category, then listing a few supporting placements so viewers can scan the result quickly.
Careful
Do not over-read the spread as proof of design quality or broad appeal, since the main reasons given are a hot topic that week and launch timing, and the source reach is only in the bottom quarter.
